Bank, savings association director workshops on governance, compliance risk slated in May

Two workshops – one on risk governance and the other on compliance risk – for directors of national community banks and federal savings associations supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) will be hosted May 22 and 23 in Omaha, Neb., by the banking regulator.

The Risk Governance workshop on May 22 will offer practical information for directors to effectively measure and manage risks; it also focuses on the OCC’s approach to risk-based supervision and major risks in the financial industry.

The Compliance Risk workshop on May 23 focuses on critical elements of an effective compliance risk management program; it will also address major compliance risks and critical regulations. Discussion topics include the Bank Secrecy Act, Flood Disaster Protection Act, fair lending, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), and other compliance areas.
