The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (BCFP) issued a clarification on the use for its records systems and modified the list of routine uses of records maintained in each system in a notice published Monday in the Federal Register. The routine uses are revised to conform with 2017 guidance issued by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB Circular A-108) to assist federal agencies in preparing for and responding to a breach of personally identifiable information. While the actions detailed in the notice took effect Monday, the bureau is accepting comments from the public until June 20. The report of the records systems modifications has been submitted to House and Senate oversight committees and to the OMB.
