A joint Senate-House committee has canceled Wednesday’s hearing featuring testimony by the head of the nation’s central bank, citing “the changing congressional schedule.”
Federal Reserve Board Chairman Jerome (“Jay”) Powell had been scheduled to testify on the economic outlook before a hearing of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC). With the death last Friday of former President George H.W. Bush, however, President Donald Trump has proclaimed Wednesday a national day of mourning and directed the closing of federal agency offices for the day.
The JEC announced tomorrow’s hearing cancellation via a notice on its website.
