The appraisal subcommittee for the umbrella group of federal financial institution regulators is planning its first meeting for 2019 the second week of February, considering (among other things) a fiscal-year 2018 reprogramming request for the group’s Appraisal Foundation.
The subcommittee is charged with providing federal oversight of state appraiser and appraisal management company (AMC) regulatory programs, and a monitoring framework for the Appraisal Foundation and the Federal Financial Institutions Regulatory Agencies in their roles to protect federal financial and public policy interests in real estate appraisals utilized in federally related transactions.
The Appraisal Foundation is a congressionally authorized industry group charged with setting standards and qualifications for real estate appraisers as well as qualifications for personal property appraisers. It provides voluntary guidance on recognized valuation methods and techniques for all valuation professionals.
