Deposit totals for the more than 86,000 branches of the nation’s 5,300 banks and thrifts (and U.S. branches of foreign banks) are detailed in the annual survey of federally insured banks and thrifts as of June 30 released Friday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC).
In addition to including the latest (mid-year) numbers, the FDIC’s Summary of Deposits (SOD) includes historical data going back to 1994 that can be analyzed using online reports, tables, and downloads, the FDIC said. The tool allows users to locate bank offices in a particular geographic area and create custom market share reports for areas such as state, county, and metropolitan statistical area, the agency noted.
In addition, the FDIC said, market share reports have been expanded to allow users to see market growth and market presence for specific institutions.
