A chief of staff and deputy director of the risk management division of the federal insurer of bank deposits was named Monday by the agency, replacing the previous incumbent who was promoted to another position earlier this year.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) said John F. Vogel is now the deputy director operations and chief of staff in its Division of Risk Management Supervision (RMS). Vogel took on the role Sept. 16, the agency said.
Previously, Vogel served as regional director for the FDIC’s New York Region. He replaces Maureen Sweeney, who was promoted earlier this year to be director of the FDIC’s division or resolutions and receiverships, the agency said.
Replacing Vogel in the New York region will be Frank R. Hughes, who previously served as deputy regional director in the region.
A veteran with the agency, Vogel has served in a number of capacities in his nearly 30-year career, the FDIC said. A former bank and supervisory examiner, among other things, Vogel served from 2004-06 as special assistant to FDIC Board Member Thomas J. Curry in Washington, D.C.
