A video outlining steps non-filers of tax returns should take in order to receive federal payments assisting them with the economic impact of the coronavirus crisis has been produced by the federal consumer financial protection agency.
The nearly three-minute video from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) points out that while most people will receive the payments authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) enacted March 27, there are some cases where non-filers will need to take action and submit information to the IRS.
“The best way to submit your info to receive the payment is through the IRS ‘Non-Filers Enter Payment Info’ portal,” the agency said. “There, you’ll choose how you want to receive your payment. The fastest way to receive payment is through direct deposit, either to your bank or credit union account, or to an eligible prepaid card.”
