A webinar on the Earned Income Tax Credit and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs will be held Feb. 23 and co-sponsored by the federal credit union regulator and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the two agencies said Wednesday.
The agencies said both the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and IRS encourage credit unions, their members, and others to participate in the webinar to learn more about the benefits of the programs.
The presentation for the program – “Tax Time Resources for Credit Unions and Consumers” – the agencies said, will include information on credit union call report data, earned income tax credit resources, and stakeholder partnerships. Both agencies, they said, will discuss their financial literacy efforts regarding the earned income tax credit and VITA, geared to low- and moderate-income families, and highlight the resources available to consumers on NCUA’s and other websites. A Q&A segment will follow.
Representatives from the NCUA’s Office of Consumer Financial Protection, along with Board Member Rodney E. Hood and senior IRS officials, will participate in the webinar, according to a release. The 45-minute program gets underway at 2 p.m. ET, the agencies said.
