Workshops for bank directors on risk – compliance, operational – set for late July in St. Louis

Two workshops focusing on risk are scheduled for July 26-27 in St. Louis for directors of community banks and federal savings associations, the national bank regulator said Thursday.

On July 26, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) said, the Compliance Risk: What Directors Need to Know workshop will focus on the critical elements of an effective compliance risk management program. Also on the agenda: emphasis on major compliance risks and critical regulations. Topics of discussion include the Bank Secrecy Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and other compliance hot topics, the OCC said.

On July 27, the Operational Risk: Navigating Rapid Changes workshop will cover key risk management processes, oversight roles and governance responsibilities, fraud, risk-based audit programs, and cyber threats, the agency said.

The workshop fee is $99, with each workshop limited to the first 35 registrants. Participants receive course materials, supervisory materials, and lunch, the agency said.
