Theoretical and empirical papers on issues related to the performance and regulation of the financial sector are now being accepted for a bank research conference, hosted by the federal bank deposit insurance agency in late September.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) also said it is seeking “posters” from Ph.D. students in economics, finance, and related fields for its 22nd Annual Bank Research Conference, slated Sept. 28-29 in Arlington, Va.
In both calls for submissions, the agency said it is looking for papers that focus on, among other things:
- Deposit insurance
- Risk measurement and management
- Banking and rising interest rates
- Capital and liquidity requirements
- Systemic risk and financial stability
- Finance and the real economy
- Finance and inequity
- Finance and labor markets
Other topic candidates, the agency said, include: bank scale and scope economies, industry competition, and market structure; Interaction between regulation and the cost and availability of credit; fintech and trends in financial products, services, and technology; climate-related financial risks; and crypto assets.
The agency said papers will be selected for presentation based on reviews by FDIC economists and the conference organizing committee, with final selections made by external reviewers.
Those whose papers are selected presentation will have their expenses reimbursed for travel, food, and lodging.
Papers are due April 18; authors will be notified about the status of their submissions in July, the agency said.
