“Financial Stability in Times of Macroeconomic Uncertainty” is the topic for the November 2023 Financial Stability Conference, the Treasury’s financial research arm said Tuesday.
In a release, the Treasury’s Office of Financial Research (OFR) said it would host the Nov. 16-17 confab in Cleveland; the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is the co-host.
“On the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic, the financial system once again faces a novel set of challenges that have generated uncertainty throughout the global economy,” the OFR said in a release. “These challenges pose risks to output, employment, and inflation and are joined by the risks stemming from resultant fiscal and monetary policies. These risks develop in the context of rapidly evolving markets and institutions, with cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, CBDCs (central bank digital currencies), artificial intelligence, and many other fintech developments changing the face of finance.”
The two-day conference may be attended either in person or virtually, the OFR said. A call for papers to be submitted for presentation is forthcoming, the agency added.
