Timothy Rich – a 36-year-plus veteran employee of the federal bank deposit insurance agency — is the new Atlanta Regional Director for the agency, it announced Monday.
As a regional director for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), rich will both risk management and consumer protection supervision programs for financial institutions headquartered in the region, largely made up of southeastern states.
According to the FDIC, Rich in his more than 36 years at the agency, has held several leadership positions within the division of risk management supervision, including deputy regional director in the Atlanta Region since 2021, and assistant regional director for 10 years before that.
He started with the agency as an examiner, FDIC said, and has served in a number of successive positions, including: case manager, senior examiner, and senior examination specialist. Other senior positions at the FDIC included acting deputy regional director in both the Atlanta and New York regions.
He holds a bachelors of business administration from the University of Montevallo, and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He also completed the senior executive fellows program at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
