Certifying compliance with federal ethics laws and regulations, and promoting a culture of accountability and integrity, are two of the roles assigned to the new chief ethics counsel for the federal credit union regulator, the agency said Thursday.
Katherine Easmunt was named by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) to the post as of Nov. 3. The action erases the term “acting” from her title; she had served as the acting chief ethics officer. She joined the agency in 2019. She will also manage the NCUA’s anti-harassment program.
Before the credit union agency, NCUA said in a release, Easmunt supervised the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation’s (PBGC) ethics and anti-harassment programs, serving as the agency’s alternate designated ethics official, assistant general counsel for general law and ethics and as anti-harassment coordinator.
Prior to that, she served as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor with a focus on ethics and appropriations law. She earned her Juris Doctor from the George Mason University School of Law and her undergraduate degree in finance from the University of South Florida.
