New cyber incident reporting webform for credit unions released, expanding methods

A new cyber incident reporting webform is available to credit unions, their federal regulator said Monday, along with an updated quick reference guide.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) said the webform is a “convenient and secure method for credit unions to report cyber incidents to the agency.”

The agency made the announcement in a letter to credit unions (25-CU-02), which the agency said is intended to update a similar letter (23-CU-07) released last year.

“Credit unions are strongly advised to maintain a high level of vigilance and continually enhance their ability to respond to evolving cybersecurity threats,” the agency said in the most recent letter.

The new webform is one of several ways to report a cyber incident, the agency said. Using it, the NCUA said, sends a secure incident report to the agency. The webform is mobile-device-friendly and is available under the Cybersecurity Resources webpage on NCUA.gov, the agency said.

Other methods for contacting the agency about cyber incidents include calling the NCUA at 1-833-CYBERCU (1-833-292-3728) and leaving a voicemail; and emailing the agency using the NCUA’s Secure Email Message Center at cybercu@ncua.gov.
