A virtual public outreach meeting for March 6, 2025, is set by federal banking agencies as part of their regular review of regulations – which is required by law, the agencies announced Friday.
In joint releases, the agencies noted that the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act (EGRPRA) of 1996 requires them to review their regulations with public input at least once every 10 years “to identify any outdated or otherwise unnecessary regulatory requirements applicable to their supervised institutions.”
Comment periods for those notices closed on May 6, 2024, and Oct. 30, 2024, respectively. The notices were published Feb. 6, 2024, and Aug. 1, 2024, respectively.
“The outreach meeting is an opportunity for interested stakeholders to present their views on the six categories of regulations listed in the first two Federal Register notices: Applications and Reporting; Powers and Activities; International Operations; Consumer Protection; Directors, Officers and Employees; and Money Laundering,” the agencies said.
Requests to deliver oral comments at the March 6 meeting must be received (through registration) by Feb. 14, the agencies said. The request must indicate the regulatory category or categories they would like to discuss, according to the agencies.
Individuals selected to provide comments will be notified by the agencies. However, anyone wishing to attend the virtual meeting may do so as an observer; no advance registration is required.
