Treasury taps top liaison to financial institution regulators

A former aide to a Tennessee senator will be the U.S. Treasury Department’s top liaison to the federal financial institution regulators, the Treasury secretary said Wednesday.

Luke Pettit was named assistant secretary for financial institutions, according to a release by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Aside from being a senior policy advisor to Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Pettit was also an economist for the Senate Banking Committee, and he worked for the Federal Reserve in the division of monetary affairs.

He also worked in the private sector at Bridgewater Associates.

Pettit is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
