‘No impact’ to financial sector from email security incident at OCC ‘at this time’

The national bank regulator this week said it has identified, isolated and resolved a security incident affecting an administrative account in the agency’s email system.

The incident was reported to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, or CISA, as required, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) said in a brief release Wednesday. “There is no indication of any impact to the financial sector at this time,” it said.

Its own investigation of the incident “analyzed all email logs since 2022 for due diligence,” the OCC said, adding that it identified a limited number of affected email accounts “that have since been disabled.”
