Virtual office hours focusing on technology and innovation – particularly about such topics as cryptocurrency and relationships between banks and financial technology companies (fintechs) — are set for May 6-8 by the national bank regulator, the agency said Wednesday.
The aim of the event, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) said, is promotion of “responsible innovation in the federal banking system.” The agency said office hours are the chance for banks and fintech companies to “engage with OCC staff on matters related to bank-fintech partnerships, cryptocurrency activities, or other matters related to responsible innovation in the federal banking system.”
Banks and others may request a meeting with agency staff by the end of this month (March 31), the OCC said. Additional Information on how to request a meeting is available on the OCC’s office hours event website page.
The agency said it plans additional office hours during the year.
