Three state financial institution regulators named to liaison group for Exam Council

Three state regulators have been named to serve on the liaison council to the umbrella group for federal financial regulators, the group announced Tuesday.

The three named to the State Liaison Committee (SLC) of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) are: Katherine M.R. Bosken, North Carolina’s commissioner of banks; Polly Klyce Pennoyer, senior deputy superintendent for bank supervision at the New York State Department of Financial Services, and; Aaron Luetzow, senior deputy director of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS). All three are serving three-year terms.

The three were designated for the positions by groups representing state regulators: the American Council of State Savings Supervisors (ACSSS, (for Bosken), the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS, for Pennoyer), and the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS, for Luetzow).

The FFIEC noted that the SLC consists of five representatives of state banking and credit union agencies that supervise financial institutions. Members are designated by CSBS, ACSSS, NASCUS, and the FFIEC. An SLC member may have his or her two-year term extended by the appointing organization for an additional, two-year term, the agency said.

The two members designated by the SLC are Chair Charles G. Cooper, Commissioner, Texas Department of Banking; and Member Greg Gonzales, Commissioner, Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions.

The SLC advises the Exam Council on issues relevant to state supervisory issues. Its chairman sits as a voting member of the Exam Council. Other members of the FFIEC are a member of the Federal Reserve Board and leaders of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC); the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB); the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC); and the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
